Admissions

Casa Program

Children may enter the Casa program during the year they turn three, provided they are toilet trained. A child over 3¾ years of age may be admitted if space is available and both parents and teachers agree the Montessori environment will be a good fit.

Admissions Steps

  1. Classroom Observation (Parents Only)

  2. Parents are invited to schedule a tour of the school and visit to observe the class without their child present, allowing them to fully focus on classroom activities.

  3. Questions & Conversation
We are happy to answer questions during the visit or by phone.

  4. Child’s Classroom Visit
If parents wish to proceed, we arrange a classroom visit for the child.

  5. Evaluation & Discussion
Admission decisions are based on an evaluation of the child’s visit and a follow-up discussion with parents to ensure the program is the right fit for the child and family.

  6. Notification of Admission
Families will be notified in writing whether or not their child has been accepted.

  7. Registration
Upon acceptance, parents complete the registration process by providing:

    • A completed application form

    • A $500 non-refundable tuition deposit (due within two weeks of acceptance)

    • A $2,000 Capital Fee

    • Three post-dated cheques for the trimester payment plan

    • A photocopy of the child’s immunization record

Please Note: Casa spaces fill quickly. We encourage families to express interest early to secure a place for their child.

Elementary & Erdkinder Programs

There are a limited number of spaces available in the Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary and Erdkinder classrooms. The admissions process in these programs is as follows:

1. Parents interested in finding out more about the school can call to arrange for a classroom observation and teacher meeting.

2. An interview with the child and parents is scheduled in order for the child to visit the classroom for two full days.

3. The child will be informally assessed academically and socially for placement purposes, and the parent must give the Muskoka Montessori School permission to contact the child’s former school to discuss academic and social history. A written evaluation from the child’s previous teacher may be required.

4. Once all the relevant information and factors have been taken into consideration, a formal letter outlining the school’s decision will be sent.

5. Upon acceptance, the parent officially registers his or her child with the school by providing the following:

  • A completed application form

  • A $500 non-refundable tuition deposit (due within two weeks of acceptance)

  • A $2,000 Capital Fee

  • Three post-dated cheques for the trimester payment plan

  • A photocopy of the child’s immunization record
